ABOUT PUFFERFISH PURSE
Pufferfish Purse is a small drawstring pouch that you can attach to your bag, belt, keychain – or anywhere else – to keep small items accessible such as keys, earbuds or gum. Attach a carabiner to the strings for easy clipping on and off. Hang it outside your bag as a fun statement, or clip it inside for the safe-keeping of valuables.
The puffer purse fish can be found in its natural habitat on sunny South African coral reefs. Although they are wild animals, they are exceptionally sociable with an innate love of humans. Puffer purses crave human companionship and are eager to please. Like a magpie crossed with a chipmunk, they love to collect small items for stuffing into their cheeks. Spoil your puffer purse by giving it small things to keep safe for you. Nothing makes a puffer purse feel more important than guarding your hair ties and lip-balm, ready to deliver whenever you need them!
ABOUT THE PATTERN
This project works up fairly quickly. You can make Pufferfish Purse in just a few hours while learning new skills not seen in previous patterns.
This little pouch uses basic colour-work for fun spots on the puffer’s back, without carrying discarded colours all the way around the body.
You’ll also learn the handy new technique of starting a piece with a chain that leaves no loose end to weave in
This pattern was originally created for the Cape Town Yarn Festival as a virtual workshop with a live-streamed video tutorial, demonstrating how to crochet the entire project from start to finish. The virtual workshop option is still available, and you can find it in my shop.
